The birth of the breakthrough

It was the early 1960’s. And a health crisis led a determined young woman named Isabelle to study under a number of natural health practitioners (including Euell Gibbons, author of the 1962 best seller “Stalking the Wild Asparagus”).

So what’s going on?
When looking into a mirror, you can see that gum tissue covers your tooth roots and jaw bone. What you can’t readily see is whether that gum tissue is still firmly attached to the tooth root, or whether the cells that were once attached had died off, leaving the gums merely lying over the tooth roots but detached from them. This detached portion of gum tissue is called a gum pocket, and it’s measured by a dental hygienist sliding a calibrated probe between the gums and a tooth’s root, down to the depth where gum cells are still attached. The deeper the pocket, the worse the condition.
Embedded within the gums (and protected by the gums) are strong filaments called periodontal ligaments, that hold the tooth roots firmly to the jawbone. When gum pockets form, the periodontal ligaments are also exposed to bacteria, and they die off along with their surrounding protective gums cells. As the gum pockets get worse, it eventually leads to loose teeth and then to tooth loss.
That’s why it’s so critical to stop the further regression of gum pockets, and then to regrow healthy new cells to reattach the gums to the tooth roots, making the gum pockets less and less deep over time.
